Making heifers that last is extremely important to us. We know the British White breed has incredible longevity. Often more than DOUBLE the life expectancy of the average cow. With that in mind, there is a few things we do as producers to make sure you get the best female for your investment.
A majority of our heifers are intentionally held back to be bred as 2 year olds. This allows the heifers to grow up, and not end up as “teenage mothers”. The maturity also affects the calf she produces, they tend to be larger every year, and in a few years, pay you back in pounds produced for that extra time she needed to grow up.
While British White females are often cycling by weanling age, We do our best to keep the heifers away from the fertile young bulls.
